Post by: Duke64 on February 16, 2015, 12:08:31 AM
This post is to help with a few things you see on this forum.

Profile- Once you register here you can have a profile and you can start editing it to your liking. Under the profile tab you will see a few options. I will break some of it down but the rest is up to you to explore

*Summary* Clicking this will bring you to your public profile (what people see when going to your profile)

*Account setting* Place to change username/password and a few other things

*Forum Profile* This is the place you want to go to if you would like to customize your public profile. Adding an avatar, signature, personal info like your birthday and adding social media links.

*Ultimate Profile* This is sort of self explanatory but enable this to further the look of your profile :)

Reputation- The reputation is just a small addition that helps show the most active members. Every topic post a member makes gives the poster 10 rep points and 3 for making posts.

T-REP This is linked to your reputation on the forums except it just has a different name and this can only be seen on your profile. Short for Turok reputation and similar to T-REX :D

This forum is really thrilling I dont think there has been a Turok forum this clean before. Seems there are bits of forums and communities spread about like you said. Now I know this place is new but in time I hope it picks up it has the potential to be the home place for all fans of Turok. Instead of only having a bunch of small fires spread everywhere there should be one big fire plus the small fires. By the way really like the rep system and how you receive rep only by making posts and being active and a very clever name to call it "T-REP"

Anyway really nice site here for Turok its really nice to see some new push for it respect for that. Let the Turok revival commence!

Solution to sent messages not showing. Before you send the message there is a button at the bottom of the text box that says "save in outbox" check that and you will see your sent messages.

Hi Turok Forums! My name is Roland Edén, Im creature designer and level designer since 3 years ago. I have to say thanks a lot to Turok games. Turok along with Doom and Zoo Tycoon are my trinity in videogames. Turok Dinosaur Hunter is very special to me. It was my first videogame that I played in my life when I was 6 years old! Also Turok Evolution (I dont know why a lot of people hate it) was my first PS2 game! Im very happy to see a forum with fans, activity and research of Turok saga. I hope to help people here and have nice time! I hope to see soon the reborn of Turok or a spiritual successor like the game I was developing.

Well Rok then we have some in common I love comics. Turok comics I hold special in my heart they are so classic. The drawing from 1950's are so amazing to me. Something so special about it being so classic. Nowadays everything is so technical I think just draw it stop animating everything. I miss cartoon that were drawn out aswell. Anyway thanks for the nice greetings! Great forums here much nicer then most places. Most places deserve trolling by me but here I think does not its a great environment you all are creating. Keep it up :)

Hello, I'm a long time Turok 4 fan. I just signed up to ask if there was any use for a programmer around here. I just stumbled onto this site and I saw some recent activity in this forum. I'd like to start a new programming project and if there are any tools I could work on that people could use then I'd gladly do that.

I have programming experience and I have written a Turok: Evolution model loader in the past. I don't have the source code anymore unfortunately but I see that there is another one floating around here. I bugged one of the game's programmers to give me information on the model format.

I can write cross-platform code for 3D applications if a level viewer/exporter is something anyone would find useful or fun.

Where do I go or who do I ask to find out what is known about the various game file formats?

Hi, I'm "Hades" (it's not my real name but more a nickname on another site). My registered username is my YouTube name, but I changed it to the one you now see and it fits much better. Anyway, I found this forum last night while searching for more news on that Dinosaur Hunter remake that I've heard about and thought I'd join.

I've been playing Seeds of Evil again. I had this game on N64 back in the day, but the console has since died so I have to play this on emulator. I've also played Shadow of Oblivion and enjoyed it, but I still prefer the first two games. I haven't played Evolution but I'd like to at some stage.

I like old and new games. Also, I'm an occasional artist with Photoshop. It takes time for me to make art and I'm no expert. Apart from that, I can photo edit pretty good. My edits were atrocious back in 2008 (before I had GIMP & CS5) but I've since gotten better.

It's good to see that Turok is still alive. I know there's a lot of people that grew up with it and still play it, but it's hard to find a lot of stuff related to it (fan art, etc...). I've read the Wikia about the storyline of how the Primagen was awakened and that. I actually read it a few years ago and found out this was based on an old comic series.

PS: Those Nalas are probably the funniest looking creatures that I've seen in that game! xD

These days I've been into playing God of War Multiplayer, but I gave it a rest because of TV problems. It gave me time to play Seeds of Evil and remember how much I enjoyed the game. Also, I remembered how frustrating some enemies were to kill! *Wastes all my ammo on a Juggernaut* xD I don't know how active I will be because I don't always post a lot on forums like I use to, but I'll always check in.

The lore of Turok and the backstories are interesting. Of course, the weapons are always memorable. The Cerebral Bore is one of the most sinister weapons that I've seen in a game, but I really love the Fusion Canon and Chronoscepter. Also, a simple shotgun with explosive shells is always fun to use and I can't forget the Razor Wind. I hate how it gets stuck, though. xD I love the creativity with weapons in games.

Welcome man subscribed your youtube channel to nice metroid video :)

Thanks!

I'm not sure if I'll upload a lot, though. I mainly created an account because I had a G-Mail for a while and I wanted to talk to some other players from the God of War: Ascension Multiplayer. I may randomly upload something, but I don't have FRAPS. I'm being cautious about downloading programs after the other month, when I had to reformat after a BSoD/corrupt system files. SNES9X can record but the AVI files are massive. I'll figure it out.

That's good to hear because that's exactly why I made the forum. There was no place for us to rally up for all of the games. A place for all of the games, comics, and other historical stuff Turok has done. Most people don't realize the full Turok story I hoped to create a place we can connect like this. Welcome trust me all of us felt the same way before not seeing a Turok community :/ I see Duke nukem, Doom, 007 communities so why not Turok kicks ass. Thanks for joining and sharing new Turok :P

Post by: Dakuwan on December 24, 2015, 10:46:53 AM
Hi all, 64 recommended i post here to let you all know whats up.

I have been a long time Turok fan, melting away the hours of my youth stabbing beetles, watching blood sprite shoot from necks, and laughing at the campaigner. I spent massive amounts of time just observing the character models and textures even when i had no idea what i was looking at. In short i fell in love with the premise, art style, and gameplay of Turok since then. Which brings me to this...

Some very talented and dedicated people (myself included) are working towards improving our beloved Turok, by increasing texture resolution, improving model detail, and in the near future, new maps and modes hopefully, and maybe even some engine improvements*cough*shadows*cough*Bump maps*cough*.

I will post here as well as steam forums to keep everyone aware of the progress.

Enjoy, AND BEHOLD AS THE PHOENIX STIRS IN THE DIM EMBERS OF THE ASHES OF THE PAST!!

Hi everyone, I've just registered to this site and first of all I'm glad to see there's an active Turok community out there! I played the hell out of Turok 2 on the N64 and it seems I've been looking to play it on PC, how are you all playing it? Is there a specific client somewhere? And I'm also wondering if it's possible to co-op the storymode with a friend? I've seen a few videos of people doing it but I've never managed to find out what platform they're playing on or how they're doing it. If anyone could give me a bit of clarity I'd really appreciate that, thanks!

Not possible in the PC port, and in the n64 isn't really co-op, you're forcing a multiplayer match in single-player maps, which is why portals don't work.

IT is possible in PC version and also portals work but you need hack gamę memory!

Hello everyone, i think as i haven't saw any welcome section in the forum i could use this to introduce myself.

So i really played a lot of Turok games in my life, since i was a child i have memories of playing Turok 2 and Rage Wars with my father, brother and sister so i can consider it one of my childhood games (however when i was like 4 the game freaked me out sometimes i have to admit), but when i grew up i learned to admire the saga because it has a lot of awesome things. Here are the games that i've played and what i think of them:

N64/PC Turok 2: I prefer the PC version because of the controls, but i first played N64. This is my absolute favourite in the saga as it's CHALLENGING, so much challenging so i have a lot of fun when i play it, even when im tired of completing Port of Adia over and over again :P
I think the Soundtrack is gorgeous, specially my favourite track, River of Souls. My favourite level would be the Hive of the Mantdis because the enemies are really painful to destroy, it really brings a lot of action to the game. The story is not that interesting but the game doesn't need it, it's superb anyway.

N64 Turok 3: I remember this not being my personal favourite as the first level was a bit strange and so different of what i saw in Turok 2, like more human-enemy-based story and a military stage that i didn't found that good but still i really liked the weapons and i think that to have 2 paths in the story is a good idea, but i didnt like what they did to Adon and Joshua because our adventure in the game before felt like a bit useless afterwards, you know. Still, not a bad game.

Rage Wars: This was so different because they were really a change in the concept of what i was expecting it to be but it was somehow so addictive and i enjoyed it a lot, unlocking characters and watch your collection afterwards felt so great, and it wasn't easy task!

Evolution: I played the PS2 version, and it wasn't the greatest of the games i've gotta say because of the flying missions, i personally hated them, but oh, well. The feet missions were not bad at all so the game still has a pass.

Turok 2008: I bought it but i never played through all o it, and i was enjoying it more than Evolution but i just got a bit tired of it i've gotta admit, also i dont know why but it didn't felt like turok, it was more like a generic shooter campaign but with dinosaurs, i don't know if you understand me.

But even after all, i like the series and i hope we see more in the future.

See ya!

I haven't played the first, weird right?
I know that Night Dive Studios made a remake of it, i was waiting to play it at the same time as Turok 2 releases but they don't give any information about the release date, so i think i will play it this summer.

I dont know why, the first title seemed somehow so different to the second one that's why maybe i never tried it before, but if if you tell me that it's really good i will surely give it a try

Hello fellow Turok and welcome :)

Thank you!

Welcome. And I absolutely recommend Turok Dinosaur Hunter better than TRK 3 and that filth released on 2008.

I see much love for that first title, then! I will surely check it out.

Welcome dude Hey may I ask how you found this forum? Just curious I try to find info like this out so I can try to help us grow. Thanks.

I loved the saga, but the reddit turok forum is almost dead, and i was looking for an old forum i knew existed, purely for Turok 2, because when GameSpy was still active i remember playing online a bit (i sucked so hard lmao but it was fun). Then, i looked again for forums and this forum was above the one i remembered (which is not very active though). Hope i helped.
Title: It's finally happening!
Post by: Primagen on March 01, 2017, 04:37:03 AM
Hi everyone,

This is my first time here and I'm so excited because Night Dive just released the first trailer of Turok 2 Remastered. I have been patiently waiting for this announcement for so long. As a long time Turok fan I can't wait for Turok 2 to finally reach it's full potential. Hopefully this new version will have better framerate and hit detection than the original which will make it much more enjoyable to play.

It felt very emotional for me watching the trailer and I think everything looked great, other than the Blind One Boss which looked weird. The best part about all this is that the game will be out in just over two weeks. I honestly can't wait.

*edit*
I just seen one of the developers on the Steam forums and they said that the trailer was made using an old build of the game. This explains why the Blind One Boss looked weird. They have said the that the newest build of the game will look even better than the trailer.

I'm wondering this also, what kind of modification it will take to get 2 players into campaign mode in Turok 2 when it comes out. I'm sure there would need to be either angelscript or C+ involved, or both. Co-op would be something that would increase the mapping potential for battles and the amount of carnage a level could provide. The devs are saying Kex v3.4 so that would mean angelscript and C+. Smoke39 has some talent in this area.

It is very possible to do it on the PC port; in fact it is much more possible to do it on the PC port. Ask vis about that, I hear he and someone got pretty far with it. Some memory hacking and a new .asm file for the level set on mp. However with the NightDive release we might be able to do it.

Hey folks.

I just registered to share my joy of the Turok 2 remaster.  I was pretty chuffed when DH was remade but then to get the 2nd game too?  That's pretty cool.  It gives me real hope for finally getting Oblivion on PC... and maybe Rage Wars with online multiplayer (one can dream!).

Anyway, loving the remaster so far though I have had a couple of crashes.  Happy days. :)

Rage Wars was actually my first Turok experience so has a special place in my heart.  I bought it in error thinking it was Turok: DH!  It wasn't all bad though.  I got it at the end of the N64's life and only paid £1.75 for the game brand new.

Thanks for the welcome. :)

I know a lot of people dismiss Rage Wars as 'just a standalone T2 multiplayer game' but for me it was the first Turok game I owned having only played T1 at my friend's house.  It'll always have a special place in my age-addled heart... especially that title music.  Love that tune!

Welcome, i hope, you have 2 eye after all ; ) I was wondering, did you had chance to play classic T2  Mp on pc? Rage wars is my fav turok game hehe (best split screen exp evaaa : ), with serious sam classic) And now with remaster of T2, we are five steps in rage wars territory, but is not quite there, and is so far from classic pc mp :O, so on end i'm very happy and sad, in same time, with it!

Thanks, and, it's okay, I do have two eyes.  Though neither are as good as they used to be!

I have never played T2 multiplayer on the PC.  I mainly played the game on the N64 only getting the PC version a few years later.  To be honest, I'm terrible at multiplayer FPS and my only real experience is playing Halo 2 with some friends for a few months and Doom back in the Skulltag days.

Looking around here it seems that the PC game still has a bit of a player base.  How active is it?  How do people get on with the less than fluid frame rate!?  Is it fun?

I understand your ambivalence towards the T2 remaster.  It's exciting that new life has been breathed into something you love but at the same there's always that sense of a missed opportunity to have "done it right".

Still, better a flawed remaster than no remaster, eh?  Perhaps it'll lead to a great Rage Wars PC port. :)

I know, you wish you hadn't said it  :o RoTfLma0

I wouldn't say it's flawed, I'd say it's a huge success. Dinomite would beg to differ with me on that point as well. There would be no forum here, there would be no capitalism, there would be no fragging. There will always be h8ers. I hate a lot of things. I hate terrorism. Nightdive has done a magnificent job and should be commended and I think they will be, financially. Huge success for them, I would think.

Hey they fixed the lag so that is done for all intents and purposes. And we'll see if the community picks it up and makes it better still. It's an imperfect science. There IS a ghost in the machine. We can all go see it represented on screen in 8 days from today

Wooohoooo Scarlett is Bad-A$$
Your cute too Ole One Eye. I'm gonna have to protect you from the 12 year olds when you get to MP.

Yeah, personally, I'm pretty happy with the remaster.  I'm just aware that there is a contingent out there that might just shrug the game off as 'broken' (especially in terms of MP) without giving the VERY small dev team the time to recoup some hard earned money before embarking on a full-featured multiplayer experience.

I'm glad the team have decided to get a playable product out for sale that will continue to be supported after release... God knows, I'm even more glad they didn't go the Early Access route.  That way rarely seems to make everyone happy!

RE: Ghost in the Shell - Can't wait!  I haven't even watched the trailer.  I just want to keep the experience for the big screen. :)

I'm really looking forward to Ghost in the Shell.

Hi. I have been a fan of Turok since 1998. I actually got Turok: Dinosaur Hunter with Star Fox 64. However, I fell out of the loop and just wanted to catch up since then. I also had a memory card for it, but it unfortunately stopped working. Anyway, I just wanted to check this place out as I like to check out any forums that catch my interests. With what little I've seen, I like what I've seen so far.

I also sometimes can't believe that it's been 20 years since Turok: Dinosaur Hunter already, but I'm sure I'll eventually get over it. (I also have a habit of revisiting things on years that end in a five or a zero, especially for the anniversary vibes.) I also like seeing the green text as green is one of my favorite colors, which also lead me to select Green Blood in the options every time.

As for my screen name, it comes from being a fan of Nine Inch Nails, with the songs Eraser and Reptile being on The Downward Spiral and how it looks like the dinosaurs and all sorts of other enemies are being erased once they vanish after their deaths in the actual game.

Hello everyone! SnackKracker101 here, forgot I even had an account here. Anyways, tis nice to be here as I am a fellow Turok fan like you all. I happen to own Turok 2 on n64 as well as the remastered version of Turok 2 on Steam and I also own Turok Dinosaur Hunter on Steam as well. I do plan on getting the other Turok games that I am missing on n64 soon, as I like building up my collection. I do plan on getting a device called the 'Retrode64' which is a USB compatible device for PC that allows you to play physical n64 games on PC and can also dump your n64 carts too. Which, by the way, once I have acquired the Retrode64, I'll dump my ROMs on MEGA and if you would want them, just PM me.

Anyways, thanks for accepting me into this place :)

Sorry I must have forgot to reply this topic since I joined this amazing forum.

Greetings folks, the name's TBM.
and as you can see by my profile picture, I'm a hardcore fan of Turok. ever since I was a child, I played Turok: Dinosaur Hunter on the N64 and it was awesome! and so does the 3 games like Seeds of Evil, Shadows of Oblivion, Evolution on the GameCube, and of course my favorite, Rage Wars!

Which is the reason why I have joined this forum to show you the Doom Mod called Turok Doom: True Rage Wars, which is a Rage Wars TC Mod for Doom!

Let me know what you fellow Turoks think?

:turok: Hello everyone. So long story short, I'm a die hard Turok fan. I've been a fan since I was 5 or 6 watching my aunt's (then) boyfriend play the first one for HOURS, and when I was about 9 I picked up my own copy of 2. I Loved it as well as 3 which I got shortly after. Then came this one... Oh boy. At first glance and play I was in love
Then I got to chapter 3. I was getting owned like a scrub. A Turok veteran getting my butt KICKED. And not because of the gameplay per say but the glitches and "checkpoints". Oh my Lord the glitches and "checkpoints". Falling off cliffs without dying until I picked up a med pack which THEN killed me, enemies shooting me through walls, horrible enemy placement, etc. And the checkpoint system. I mean it's honestly, barely existent. No lives either. Now I guess you can argue with this by saying it could be worst and be perma death but still. Now don't get me wrong. I can definitely see where they were going with this game. The environments are beautiful, some of the stealth segments are very satisfying, (except for having to climb across a rope in the last segment of chapter 4 that almost killed me due to a glitch) and while the weapons aren't anything to really bat an eye at, I understand that maybe they're like this because this was the prequel. However, I just can't see what all the great reviews and praise is about here. It's a decent game for what it is but honestly it's not a whole lot. At least to me. I'd really love to see this series pick up after 3 tbh and give us something much more fun and polished.

Hello to anyone who came to this thread.  My name is what you see to the left of this post.  I've seen this place before some years ago, but finally made an account here sometime last months.

I've played a good number of the Turok games.

Turok Rage Wars
Turok Evolution
Turok II
Turok III
Turok Dinosaur Hunter

The Gameboy Color Versions of Turok Rage Wars, Seeds of Evil, and Shadow of Oblivion.  Although the last two were played through an Emulator.

Anyways, what got me to really stick around was Raffine52's Turok weapon Doom mods that he did as well as his "The World is Not Enough" weapons mod for doom.  From there, my interest and curiosity got sparked a little bit more and more until I eventually made an account here.

So, that's really my story.  So, how does it go for everyone around these parts?
