Title: Turok 1 N64 - Analog Controls Modification ROM Hack
Post by: SubDrag on December 19, 2015, 10:09:48 PM
These patches make the controls the more standard analog to turn and move forward/back, and c-up/c-down to aim up and down. The first part of the hack was to essentially swap the c-up/down and analog up/down, and also make it so the aim up/down was incremental (essentially converting to Look Spring, as it was not in Turok that way). Also, to better mimic the way movement works, it auto-centers the vertical when go forward or backwards (from a lull), while can aim at a run without it inadvertantly auto-centering. It is very similar to the way most fps work on N64, such as GoldenEye (without the R to aim, it jumps instead). I think the controls ended up pretty slick, and even though the game once in a while feels a little "slippery", I believe that is due to the way the controls work in the original game.

I wonder if I am the only one who was waiting for this patch...if you use it, let me know how it does.

Oh I read the hole thing this time (I didn't have time to last time) Sorry didn't realize it said you were more interested in the classic version then the remaster. Well that's okay everybody likes the classics. Hey I also didn't realize that I actually recognize your name. Welcome Subdrag, I have a question though is there a way to play Goldeneye on pc without emu? Like a rom or mod somewhere? I mean I want to play the classic though I have heard of the GE source before though.

(This could now be moved to the new section in t1 modding duke64 unless you feel other wise)

There's no GoldenEyeEx no.  Also, I'm not interesting in modding TurokEx alas, only N64 one.

I liked Time Splitters to that was a good game dude well all I know is 1 & 2. Goldeneye ex would be bad ass i'm sure the rights to that are tied. But a fan version like Doom64ex would be great.

Welcome Subdrag nice modification here to and I wouldn't mind you showing off the Diddy Kong Racing maps :)

Nice work Subdrag!

Is it possible to make a patch for dual analog controls when using an emulator?
Eg: Change the C-buttons to be on an Axis, while keeping the look Axis the same..
So when I remap the controls in the emulator I can have full dual analog range on both thumbsticks?

Moved this to Turok modding. Though I kind of want to have a separate place for vanilla mods. But there won't be enough. And I wanted to keep this in the original place but it may be overlooked by not being in mods.
