Community Mapping Event
« on: April 27, 2019, 09:48:06 PM »
We're starting the first community mapping event for Turok: Dinosaur Hunter. So we're calling all our fellow Turok Dinosaur Mappers to help participate and make any map they want, and at the end we'll all connect the maps together with warps and hopefully it'll turn into a little mini campaign for all to enjoy. Amazing progress has already taken place so quickly and our awesome mappers currently include:
Badger
BehemothProgrammer
BJGX64
DoomMarine23
Sixty Four
Smoke39
Snake Plissken
ひまわりくん

And if you're interested and want to make a map of any size let us know so you can take part in this first community mapping event.

Here's the guidelines:
- Make a map of any size from super tiny to as big as you want over as many maps as you want.
- Any theme for your map is good. (Jungle,Ruins,Tech, etc...)
- Place any weapons you want in the map except the fusion cannon and the Chronoscepter. You're map will be played in the order appropriate to the weapons placed in your map. Pistol and shotgun means your maps at the beginning, Grenade Launcher and Rockets are end game maps.
- Maps start and end with warp pads/portals to other maps.
- Submit your map(s) by June 23rd

May as well post my work in progress. The final look is going to be very dark and gloomy, as it is a night-time setting with heavy fog. The player is exploring part of abandoned civilization and an abandoned hidden catacomb that has been flooded.

Picture in day-time just to clearly show off the detail.

As you've probably seen, the mapping date has been pushed to June 23rd. It will not be pushed up anymore, so those of you who are on the edge of your seats to play this mod, plzzz be at eazzz.  :dizzy:

With this date being pushed up though, we won't have much pressure to release the maps, and can focus on quality instead.

Oh god, I had been hoping that I could contribute something for this, but everything kept conspiring against me. Now I might actually be able to get it done in time.  :XD:

Don't worry, even after we release, I am sure we'd be cool with adding one or two late entries. I actually put my map on the shelf cause its really huge and complex, so I'm instead making a small dungeon for this.

Besides, the plan, at least as I understand it, is to do more of these. Some of you guys might know about Quake or Half-Life Map Jams where modders hang out and make maps just like this.
