Nintendo Thread
« on: August 03, 2016, 01:08:52 PM »
Hey guys I don't know if anyone likes Nintendo but I got to say how could you not? Anyways, I thought this could be a decent thread for us. We can post about anything related to Nintendo!

I will start things off. Today there was a link shared for a lot of Nintendo Power magazine scans for free. There are a ton of them available even the Turok issue in full.

Here is two of them but there is so many!

Yeah Gamecube was the last Nintendo I loved that was a great one too. Got a few games for it still, but most notable would be Evolution and Mario Sunshine. Wii was a bummer made me just look the other way. Wii u is better than the wii. I gave up on Nintendo at that time. But my son really wanted wii u and I was like well Mario Maker is on it and a few other cool ones :)

Scanned another one of my games today :P Was bored and I know my scanner is not the best thing lol.

I liked the GameCube, but I feel like Nintendo was already starting to have some difficulty figuring out wtf to do next (which would explain why their next system was the Wii).  Wind Waker felt unfinished. They overreacted to WW's reception with  TP's art direction, reducing it to generic Tolkienesque fantasy.  Sunshine was more like a spinoff than a proper followup to Mario 64.  Metroid Prime was a triumph on par with Mario 64 and OoT, but got worse with every sequel.

Sorry, I'm grumbling more than reminiscing.  Here's some stuff that I like:

I grew up with Nintendo. The old NES, SNES, N64 and GBA. After that, I didn't play any newer ones. I mostly played PC games from 2004 and on. Then PS3 in 2011.

These days PS has more games that I like, but I still like the old Nintendo games, too. I love the Metroid series and Mario 64 was tricky to play, but fun.

Loved both of those Zelda games I was hooked to Ocarina though endless hours on that one. I also did a broadcast of it recently and well it was the most viewers I ever had on a broadcast xD If anyone was looking to boost there audience on broadcast just play that game well from my experience of it at least.

My favorite outfit was the Blue tunic :)

I didn't really appreciate Majora's Mask until I replayed it as an adult.  Now it's my favorite Zelda game.

People always praise MM for being dark, but I think it's more than that.  It's the juxtaposition of that darkness with an otherwise colorful, whimsical world.  It makes for a really interesting atmosphere, and gives you a better sense that something is actually at stake.
