Is this a windows program we won't need unity or things like that? I agree with Rok its a really cool name. Great work!

Just wanted to vouch my support for this. While someday the SDK may have comparable features to your tools, I think what you're doing is not only very awesome, but very important; it will be a huge shot in the arm for modding. Great work my man, best of luck.

Yeah it's just a windows program.

Thanks! Yeah I hope once I'm done with this more people will want to start making mods for Turok.

The first version, v0.5, is available to download now. Right now you can only load, save, and edit values for Skinned Meshs and Animations. You can't import models yet - that's what I'm working on next. Because I'm still working on it, it's possible things might not work perfectly - so backup the animations/skinned meshs before loading/saving even though you probably don't need to, but...just in case.

Program Help:
Once you open a file a list of it's contents are displayed in a Tree on the left side of the window. You can click on certain items in the tree to display their properties that will show in the right side of the window. Most of the data is mesh related and you shouldn't change. The things you most likely do want to change are Hot Points for skinned meshs (You can add/remove them by right clicking them in the Tree view) and Key Frame Actions for Animations (You can add/remove them by right clicking them in the Tree view)

So basically the main funciton of this is opening and compilling in wathever format turok2 model files are, right?

Yup. it's the middleman from a modelling program to Turok 2 and back.
Blender-->Fireseed-->Turok 2
Blender<--Fireseed<--Turok 2

Aight, I might have missed something but upon starting the program I'm hit with this error. I'm running Windows 10 64bit. Is there any kind of dependencies Fireseed requires?

Awesome!

Great tool, that quick fixing lol. Hey I already understand it. Great work its very interesting to look through. The plans you have that you told me are going to make this one of the best tools I have seen in my times not just for Turok. Its already beneficial and very good layout of a program, I appreciate this work and sure many others do and will also. Keep it up!

Added to Turok Sanctum and on the mappers modders page you can find it under your name also. https://turoksanctum.com/mappers-and-modders/

Title: Re: Fireseed v0.8 - Model & Animation Editor
Post by: BehemothProgrammer on June 03, 2017, 04:44:38 PM
Version 0.8 is available now. Everything with Static Meshes is done so you can import custom models and view them. Same for Skinned Meshes although without an initial pose from the animation file they might look a little weird to you...you'll see. I added the Assimp library for importing and possibly exporting later. Importing a model supports the following formats (so they say):

Wavefront Object (*.obj), Collada (*.dae), Autodesk (*.fbx), Blender 3D (*.blend), 3ds Max 3DS (*.3ds), 3ds Max ASE (*.ase), glTF (*.gltf, *.glb), Industry Foundation Classes (IFC/Step) (*.ifc), XGL (*.xgl, *.zgl), Stanford Polygon Library (*.ply), AutoCAD DXF (*.dxf), LightWave (.lwo), LightWave Scene (*.lws), Modo (*.lxo), Stereolithography (*.stl), DirectX X (*.x), AC3D (*.ac), Milkshape 3D (*.ms3d), TrueSpace (*.cob, *.scn), Biovision BVH (*.bvh), CharacterStudio Motion (*.csm), Ogre XML (*.xml), Irrlicht Mesh (*.irrmesh), Irrlicht Scene (*.irr), Quake I (*.mdl), Quake II (*.md2), Quake III Mesh (*.md3), Quake III Map/BSP (*.pk3), Return to Castle Wolfenstein (*.mdc), Doom 3 (*.md5*), Valve Model (*.smd, *.vta), Open Game Engine Exchange (*.ogex), Unreal (*.3d), BlitzBasic 3D (*.b3d), Quick3D (*.q3d, *.q3s), Neutral File Format (*.nff), Sense8 WorldToolKit (*.nff), Object File Format (*.off), PovRAY Raw (*.raw), Terragen Terrain (*.ter), 3D GameStudio (3DGS) (*.mdl), 3D GameStudio (3DGS) Terrain (*.hmp), Izware Nendo (*.ndo)

I've found .obj, .dae, and .3ds, and the video game file formats to be the most reliable so far.

I added a list of all Turok 2 objects for - Particles, Sounds, Actors, Voices, Aimations, and Impact Types in the Database tab. You can Right click on any number field to bring up a list of "What is this?" options. This will for example tell you what sound 1364 is with a description.

That's the main highlights. You can see a bit more in the first post as well as a link to download the new version.

This is top of the line work, I wont be able to set it down once I get into :o I have already started, what I did was hilarious.. it was just a test to get a feel how things work. I really want to get into this, this and the editor together is killer for specifics. Database is really good and right clicking 'what is this particle/sounds/etc' and it tells you. Got to say a few thanks for adding my editor video guide and also including the forums in communities like that very appreciated.

Thanks for your hard work definitely can't wait to see the next update.

100% agree with 64 here appreciate this very much. I don't need to use this yet but when I get to that point I know for sure this will help me a shit ton. I was experimenting with it though. It is top of the line pro work agreed. :D

Yes thank you for including the forum here and the other related communities sanctum and the facebook looks like you got them all. Really damn good work, there's no way I can do that programming yet and make my own app that does custom things for a specific game/engine! Thanks dooooood.

I might get some questions when I go to use it for real on my project but I see you have guides coming soon so who knows.

So I have converted an obj into a static mesh and I have it in the editor and placeable. So at least I got passed all that but I have one issue.

When importing an obj I always end up with only one surface and its a blank white one. I'm not sure how to import a model with all the surfaces intact if you know what I mean? Any help greatly appreciated.

A white texture in game means it didn't create a .kmat file. When you imported it did you check the create .kmat file and copy textures checkboxes? Did it look okay in Fireseed and have textures? (if not it should have a white and purple texture) And did you get any messages warnings/info after importing it?

Also note that Turok 2 accepts only .png files for textures, so gotta make sure they are that format in order to successfully copy the textures over.

Thanks dude and it wasn't a problem in your program but a problem on my end not properly setting the model up for importing! Works fine now :) Awesome!

Thank you so much for continuing working on this awesome tool!

Few questions,
1) i opened the model viewer for the first time. I imported "bannana_Eater", he is all collapsed on the flloor. I then imported its animations, after going to the animation tab. Nothing changed. Is there a specific order in which we have to import them?

2) As for custom animated models, do we just rig and export the models as obj? Sorry im not sure what the process would be for that.

3) How do you play animations? i didnt see a "play" button.

4. Can we export the skinned meshes out, as in if i load in a weapon, would i be able to export it out into my modeling package to check the scale, etc?

I understand this is work in progress, but just wodnering if those things are possible already. Keep up the great work!

1) I haven't done anything for viewing Animations yet. What you're seeing is the skinned mesh with no bone transforms.

2) You create your animated model in an appropriate format that supports bones and animation like you normally would in your modelling program. Then you'll be able to import it in. You can import the skinned mesh right now but theres no animation yet.

4) I haven't done exporting yet. not sure I will, well maybe....we'll see. If you need to check scale right now you can import a static mesh and compare it to a model in the game such as the endtrail enemy.

What would a custom models appropriate format be like? For example, do I create a standard key frame based .obj animation made with blender? What do I need to follow... What pipeline or model.. Do I need to maintain in order to have a sucsessfully convertible animated model for use with fireseed.

how would one go about making a bone. ive tried three methods. each time im told no bones present and one has been created. how can I take a model in a editor and make a animation, i know how to use fireseed to convert it at that point. also srry im a bit autistic so i come off like a pain in the ass sometimes i notice. if i ever do that never mind me. keep in mind im thrilled and thank the gods for you and what you have accomplished. im totally stoked about all of this.

i need to know what model and guidelines to follow, what methods should be used. there are multiple different kind of bone based animation formats. any tips?

thnx again

You create animations as you normally would in your modelling program for any of the supported formats. I haven't done animations yet so it won't work correctly right now.

Sorry if this has been answered in the thread, but how do I get Fireseed to properly import bones with a mesh? It seems that no matter what I do, the import states there was no bones and thus, it has created a default

Would you maybe take donations :)  I am really looking forward to this getting finished. I started figuring out the modding of turok earlier on the year. Life kicked in and i decided it was ok to give it some time specially after you announced this tool. I particularly looking forward for the animation tool. There a few custom animated meshes i would like to make.

I was working on it a bit earlier this week. Was changing the UI to make it easy to go through all the models in the game and see what's what as well as a few other things. I'll be updating it to 0.9 with those changes soon. After that I'll work on getting the animations in from other models for at least the collada .dae format.

I hate to bug you more than you probably are but it would be great if fireseed featured the model importer for turok 1. I have imported a model into turok 1 but let's face it its a hassle and kind of tedious process. I would love that ...well keep it up man its really appreciated.

Already updated on Turok Sanctum of course. And I like that when choosing a skinned mesh it selects the anim that goes with it by itself, it highlights what surface is which on the material, and shows where the hotpoints are located. I'll have to explore more once i need to do somethings in this. Great job!

I had some fun with fireseed these past few evenings. I do have a few questions, maybe requests if you take them.  So far everything about it pretty great, i was able to figure things out rather quickly ( granted i have a bit of experience with these things )

We can view the skinned models, but i didnt see anything about being able to make your own. I did do a test to bring in my own custom model ( just a box for this test) and i rigged it with a very simple rig. Though, is a little unclear to me how to import the animations. It is a great future that Fireseed autodetects whats in the folders and displays the information quickly, but i noticed there was no "import anim button".  Is that in yet?

How do you view the skeletons themselves, i see the names on the side. Was trying to see how the skeletons of the meshes are built. To get a sense of what i needed to do. Or maybe if i made a monster just name the bones the name and associate it with those animations files. But icant see the bones.

Anyway, thank you so much for putting in the time to craft this tool. It has been immensevly useful! :)  Give me a few weeks my goal is to make a small DM map. Thanks!

Is there any way to duplicate an animation and give it a different name using Fireseed?
Title: Re: Fireseed v0.9 - Model & Animation Editor
Post by: BehemothProgrammer on July 12, 2018, 04:28:22 AM
They don't really have names. Each animation has an ID value that indicates what it's used for which you can change in the proprieties when you click on it. But yeah I guess I didn't get around to doing the copy/paste commands for the animations, I'll just make note of that if I ever do anything for it again.
Title: Re: Fireseed v0.9 - Model & Animation Editor
Post by: Victorious_Games on July 12, 2018, 09:11:02 AM
Yeah that's what I was talking about. I was wanting to duplicate let's say the Attack1 animation and then rename it to Attack2 within Fireseed. If you do update it please add this feature if possible. Would make some things a lot easier in some cases.

While I got your attention what exactly does the loopframe do? Would that be the easiest way to make an animation shorter by reducing that number to an earlier frame?
Title: Re: Fireseed v0.9 - Model & Animation Editor
Post by: BehemothProgrammer on July 12, 2018, 05:50:14 PM
If you change loopframe value you'll see what it does. To make an animation shorter you can change the speed of it in the anim file or in script, or remove frames which fireseed doesn't do right now.

Ok so I'm trying to import an .obj model that I made with an old 3d modeling program called Milkshape3D and it loads into Fireseed without any issues but there is nothing in the view window. Nothing loads up. If I save the model as a static mesh and try to use it in game the game crashes. Is there a possibility that Milkshape3D doesn't export a proper .obj model that Fireseed can use?

Nevermind. I just needed to really increase the size of my model. It's all good.

Oh dang I didn’t even notice the updates. Nice job getting those animations easier to copy and remove.

Any chance your next update could include a way to export skinnedmesh models and animations to be worked on?
